Parents can volunteer with CLIP in several ways.
Parent Curriculum Committee and Volunteer Program Organization
The CLIP Program director and the Immersion Program Resource Teacher work with a group of volunteer parents and teachers on a committee called the Curriculum and Program Advisory Committee. This committee gathers and prioritizes curriculum and program needs which are then developed and assigned to various subordinate committees for implementation. Some of the committees include but are not limited to:
Parent Education Committee
Recruitment and Marketing Committee
San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade/Performing Committee
Website and Newsletter Committee
Volunteer Coordination Committee
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
The Meyerholz School Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a group of dedicated volunteer parents and teachers who have the common interest of promoting the welfare of all children at Meyerholz at home and in the community. The PTA supports students by funding art, music, and physical education programs; funding enriching assemblies and school buses for field trips; supporting the library and media clerks; providing for classroom supplies, audio/video equipment, and iMacs; and funding the playground climbing structures. The PTA also sponsors school-wide and community events such as International Night, Red Ribbon Week, Discovery Day, and Carnival. The money for these exciting activities is generated through PTA-sponsored fundraising events and direct donations from Meyerholz families.
School Site Council
The Meyerholz School Site Council is another group of dedicated volunteer parents and teachers charged with the responsibility to develop and adopt the School Improvement Plan (SIP). This committee meets on a monthly basis to review the implementation of the School Improvement Program and to assess the effectiveness of the program. On an annual basis, the council establishes the SIP budget and makes modifications to the plan and budget to reflect the changing improvement needs and priorities.
