Collaborate with Instruction to develop and implement a dynamic, comprehensive technology plan that ensures financial, administrative, technical support, provides appropriate training, and promotes equitable access.

Evaluate current and emerging technologies, recommend and integrate technologies that enhance student learning and support services efficiencies and productivity.

Department Overview:

The Information Technology department is responsible for all technology related hardware and software throughout the district.  The support includes maintaining the Local Area Network (LAN) at over 26 sites and the district Wide Area Network (WAN) with all its components.

The IT Department is made up of three main areas delivering a wide variety of Technology Support.  The System Administrator and programming staff provide support and training for e-mail, business and student administrative applications.  The Networking staffs are responsible for maintaining the District’s Local and Wide area network as well as the 3COM VOIP phone system. Electronic services staff provides all computer and network printers, AV equipment, cable TV, clocks, bells and intercom repair and maintenance.

We serve more than 18,500 students and 1,500 staff by supporting the on-line student and financial systems, e-mail and phone system, and Internet and Intranet access.  The student administrative applications include daily attendance, period-by-period attendance; grade reporting, California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) projects, special education, food services, summer school and reporting for site-based, local, state and federal requirements.

Network Topology:

Currently each of our schools is connected to the district through a point-to-point 1GB fiber optic connection.  The District uses the Santa Clara County Office of Education as their Internet Service Provider utilizing a 250MB AT&T Opt-e-Man connection.  With the Sunesys network in place we have started consolidation and virtualization of mission-critical applications.
